The Family

Alimentari Pasqualetti was founded in the late 1950s when Duilio Pasqualetti and his wife Iolanda decided to open a first small grocery shop in Poggibonsi. Duilio and Iolanda were a young couple, continuing in the traditions of their farming and wine-growing families, near Petrognano in the Florentine hills. But in 1959 they decided to descend to Poggibonsi, in the valley, where they could also sell quality food products.

Relying on Duilio's intuition and Iolanda's cooking skills, they set out to transform a village shop, setting up a kitchen where they could prepare typical Tuscan dishes. The first meals offered were fagioli all'uccelletto (stewed beans with sausages), ribollita (vegetable and bread soup) and potato salad - all dishes that we still prepare today using exactly the same recipes. Little by little the demand and production increased. Starting from fresh, excellent quality ingredients, and relying on traditional recipes, the wise cooks of the family used their small kitchen to produce genuine, authentically flavoured dishes, gradually transforming the Alimentari into a delicatessen of fine foods.

Today, more than 60 years later, we still work with the same love and family harmony, confident that our commitment will be reflected in every dish we offer. In recent years we've expanded our small village shop, creating a modern and relaxing environment with a family atmosphere where you can enjoy the dishes of Tuscan cuisine, and more, created with the aim of helping you eat better.

In keeping with the family tradition we've added modern methods of cooking and preparation that bring out the flavours, always with full respect for the classic ingredients, wherever possible sought out from local producers.
